White House Voice Mail Greeting Accuses Dems of Holding Government Hostage

Latest

A brazen effort is underway to make the White House no longer the people’s house. The Trump Organization should just go ahead and slap a big ole TRUMP sign on the front of it.

In response to the government shutdown over a funding impasse, someone has recorded an automated voice mail greeting on a public White House phone line that is overtly partisan and blames Democrats for “holding government funding, including funding for our troops and other national security priorities, hostage to an unrelated immigration debate.”

It is the same type of misleading message that President Donald Trump has been repeating ad nauseam on Twitter.

The greeting, which callers are subject to after dialing (202) 456-1111, says that citizens “can leave a comment for the president at www.whitehouse.gov/contact/.”

The White House did not respond to requests for comment from BuzzFeed, which first tweeted about the awful message. But a statement put out on Friday by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders is similar in tone, calling the Democrats “obstructionist losers.”

The recording was noticed the same day the Donald J. Trump for President campaign released an ad they titled “Complicit,” which accused Democrats of murder if they refused to support Trump’s ridiculous border wall and draconian immigration policies.
