Who will win 'RuPaul's Drag Race?' Eliminated queens weigh in

Latest

The grand finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race is almost upon us, which means that we’re mere hours away from crowning America’s Next Drag Superstar. Who will be named the winner of the RuPaul-hosted drag queen competition series, now in its eighth season?

Will it be Bob the Drag Queen, the mouthy Manhattanite with a heart of gold and a purse of firstness? Or will it be Kim Chi, the Chicago makeup artist who served everything from cartoons to cubism on the runway? And what about Naomi Smalls, the Cali girl slash would-be (could-be, should-be) supermodel with, and I quote, “legs all the way up to her asshole?”

It’s really Bob’s anyone’s game at this point, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate wildly—with a little help from this season’s eliminated queens.

“I have been saying Kim Chi since day one because of her creativity and artistry, but Bob has won me over,” Derrick Barry said in an email to Fusion. “[Bob’s] going above and beyond the makeup, wigs, and costumes. He’s actually giving back to several communities and charities.”

Our nation’s foremost Britney Spears impersonator is referring to Bob’s Charity 4 the People Tour, which aims to raise $100,000 in the next year to benefit a variety of charitable organizations.

In a probable sign of the end times, Acid Betty actually agreed with Derrick Barry. Betty and Derrick had butted heads throughout filming Drag Race, most notably during an episode of companion web series Untucked.

“There are great reasons for all of them to win, but I am #TeamBob,” Betty said in an email to Fusion. “To be real blunt, I’d like our next drag superstar to be able to do more than wear a dress and pose. Bob can be in a gown, a pair of shorts, or naked and still bring the house-down-boots.”

When asked if there was anyone missing from the top three, the self-assured New Yorker—known for her alienesque avant-garde looks—unsurprisingly said: “Me! I should have been in the top three. There is only one top in the group anyway… Get it?”

Who will be crowned the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season eight? You’ll just have to tune in to Logo Monday night at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT to find out.

In the meantime, can we marvel at just how talented this year’s crop of queens truly were? Not to mention diverse: Season eight bucked the series’ years-long trend of featuring increasingly whiter casts with fewer Latina queens among them. Bob, Kim, and Naomi are the first all-POC group of finalists since Raja, Manila Luzon, and Alexis Mateo in season three.

We could also pass the time until tonight’s finale by checking out the deluge of obligatory iTunes singles that have arrived from every business-savvy queen with access to GarageBand, like Bob’s catchphrase-solidifying “Purse First” or Kim’s self-aware meta cash-in single, simply titled “Single.” (Emphasis on “could!”)

Bad at filling out bios seeks same.
