Zendaya just schooled Modeliste Magazine on feminism with this Instagram post

Latest

Singer Zendaya Coleman called out Modeliste Magazine today for retouching a photo of her taken for the magazine to make her torso longer and her hips smaller.

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are things that make women feel self conscious, that create the unrealistic idea of beauty that we have,” she wrote in her Instagram post:

The magazine took down the photo and replaced it with the original after she complained. “Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue,” Zendaya said in her Instagram post.

Zendaya made some waves earlier this year when she took E! host Giuliana Rancic to task for saying her dreadlocks smelled like marijuana at the Oscars:

She’s developing an impressive reputation for being outspoken about body image and identity, and based on Modeliste‘s reaction, seems to be making an impact–her Instagram post has nearly 600,000 likes this afternoon. Comments on the post went something like this:

“You look amazing in your original photo. Thanks for sharing and keeping it real young lady! Proud of you!” wrote one commenter on the post.

“The real pic literally looks so much better like why tf would they edit it” wrote another.

“I saw it this morning, I freaking adore her one of the best celebrity females out there,” wrote another fan.
