The news that Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails from a private account during her time in government has not exactly shaken the universe to its core—which has left many confused, since we have all learned that emails are extremely important.

For instance, I was sure there would be an absolutely blistering segment on Fox News this morning condemning the First Daughter for her shameful behavior, but none has appeared. Insert cricket sounds here!

When the network mentioned the item at all, it was to quote Trump’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, furiously denouncing the Washington Post report on the matter and emphasizing that this situation is nothing like the situation with any other public figures whose emails you may have heard about.
